Area under the curve

I think that the meditations from a while back were actually doing a lot in the background.

  • journal
  • live work in progress

I think those observations about romance and having a litmus test for being in the present were from meditation, and I think as a continuation from that a discussion at breakfast with a friend was really interesting too.

He asked me what I’m trying to optimise for, and specificially he asked “What’s your area under the curve” where the X-axis was time. I think it helped me realise how much I had gotten into the habit of looking to the future, and so this made me realise even if I’m looking for the integral of my future goal as my area that I can visualise it in this way, and I really could consider using this visualisation to help avoid procrastination. What does right now look like if I’m going to live the life I want to kinda goes hard.

Ok, if i’m going to have this open I neeeeed to be able to lock in too. I intend to work on the paper for the next 4 hours and then eat, I’ve procrastinated for 2 on the website and some cramming.

ARGH I DIDN’T QUITE FINISH DUE TO MORNING PROCRAASTINATION! I did probably do ok, Codex estimates my grade at 62% even without me finishing, I have no feedback beyond this. It’d be nice to feel uber competent and that feels like a potential first.

In the evening I had a fantastic walk with a friend and got to meet some of her friends, it was very fun sending letters and recieving letters to organise it, I suppose that’s what we should do if the person never checks their phone.

Hopefully the extra sleep today will help me lock in tomorrow, sleep really does seem to be the magic factor here and good sleep doses make far more good revision than more working hours.

Still got some blog proofreading to do!
